Best Christmas Lima Beans Recipe
Heirloom lima beans are popular for Christmas dinner recipes. These brown large beans with white spots have a nutty flavor suggestive of chestnuts. They are also known as chestnut beans… and that is where the Christmas name comes from. The relationship among chestnuts and Christmas is solid to the point that the beans acquired the name.
They're phenomenal as a basic "pot of beans" hot side dish. They likewise make an extraordinary serving on top of mixed greens - when cooled, then, at that point, throw on the vinaigrette, parsley, and spices.
Ingredients:
- 1 pack of Dried Christmas Lima beans
- 1 sweet onion (diced)
- 1tsp Fresh thyme sprigs (chopped)
- 1 smoked Turkey neck
- 1 tbsp Salt
- 1tbs Pepper
- 4 cans of chicken broth
- 2 carrots (chopped medium size)
- 4 potatoes (chopped medium size)
Directions:
Soak your Christmas Lima beans in water for at least 2 hours. Place the beans into the crockpot. Add potatoes, carrots, chicken broth, turkey neck, salt, pepper thyme, and onion. Cook them in a crockpot for 40 minutes on high. Stir and cook for another 40 to 60 minutes or until tender. Turn the crockpot on a warm setting and serve.
