How To Make Toffee Apples
If you like sugar and eating apples, this is the recipe for you. I love toffee apples during the holidays. These sticky caramel candy apples on a stick are a fun treat to give as a gift for Christmas. You can't turn away a crunchy toffee apple. This delicious recipe makes for a surprising and fun evening gathering pastry or a well-known treat at a children's birthday celebration. Ideal for Halloween or a Huge fire night. Let's take a look at the ingredients to make Toffee Apples.
Ingredients:
- 4 cups of sugar (cane sugar, brown sugar)
- 10 oz water
- 6 apples (gala, red delicious, granny smith)
- 6 sticks (wooden screwers)
Directions:
- Turn the stovetop on to med-low heat. Place the pan on top of the stovetop. Mix in sugar and water in a pan until sugar dissolves.
- Pierce six apples with a stick or fork. When the sugar has dissolved completely and crystallized turn up the heat on the stovetop and let the mixture boil until it turns a caramel color. Turn off the heat and quickly dip the pan in cold water to stop the caramel from cooking any further.
- While the caramel is melted and hot, immediately dip each apple into the caramel to coat. When coated to your liking, place on non-stick baking parchment paper. They should cool for 2-3 hours before the caramel starts hardening.
Bonus: Garnish with sprinkles or nuts to give a different flavor and gourmet look.
