Introduction
This classic meatloaf recipe is a family favorite that never goes out of style. Juicy, flavorful, and topped with a tangy ketchup glaze, this comfort food dish is perfect for weeknight dinners or special occasions. It’s easy to make, uses pantry staples, and delivers the ultimate nostalgic meal.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef (80/20)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 large eggs
- 1/3 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
For the Glaze:
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon mustard
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease a loaf pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and milk. Let sit for 5 minutes to allow the breadcrumbs to absorb the milk.
- Add the ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, eggs, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, parsley, salt, and pepper to the bowl. Mix until just combined; avoid overmixing.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it on the prepared baking sheet (or press it into the loaf pan).
- In a small bowl, mix the glaze ingredients (ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard). Spread the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
- Bake for 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
- Remove from the oven and let rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve and enjoy!
