Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 4-5 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until the beef is browned and cooked through. Drain any excess grease. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup and milk until smooth.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Add half of the cooked ground beef mixture on top of the potatoes.
- Pour half of the soup mixture over the beef and potatoes. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, beef, and soup mixture.
- Cover the casserole with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 50 minutes.
- Remove the foil, sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top, and return to the oven. Bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let the casserole cool for 5-10 minutes before serving. Sprinkle with paprika for garnish, if desired. Enjoy!
