Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked, shredded chicken (rotisserie chicken works great!)
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 1 cup diced carrots
- 1 cup diced celery
- 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1/3 cup butter
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 pie crusts (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add onions, carrots, celery, and garlic powder, and sauté for 5-6 minutes until vegetables are tender.
- Stir in the flour and cook for an additional minute to create a roux (this will help thicken the sauce).
- Gradually whisk in the chicken broth and milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
