Spicy Tomato Basil Penne Pasta

Ingredients
- 8 oz penne pasta
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 (14 oz) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Parmesan cheese, for garnish
Instructions
- Cook the penne pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes, sautéing for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, and dried basil. Stir well to combine.
- Simmer for 10-15 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and the flavors to meld.
- Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste.
- Toss the cooked penne pasta into the sauce, making sure to coat evenly.
