Ingredients

  • 8 oz penne pasta
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 (14 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Parmesan cheese, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the penne pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes, sautéing for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, and dried basil. Stir well to combine.
  4. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and the flavors to meld.
  5. Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Toss the cooked penne pasta into the sauce, making sure to coat evenly.
  7. Serve the pasta in bowls, topped with fresh basil and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.
