These Italiano Dinner Rolls are soft, fluffy, and buttery, with a perfect golden crust. Easy homemade Italian bread rolls for pasta nights, holiday dinners, or sandwiches!


Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast

  • 2 tbsp sugar

  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning (oregano, basil, thyme)
  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

1. Activate the Yeast

  • In a small bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.

2. Make the Dough

  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour and salt.
  • Add yeast mixture, olive oil (or butter), and egg.
  • Mix until combined, then knead for 8-10 minutes until dough is smooth and elastic.

3. First Rise

  • Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

4. Shape the Rolls

  • Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal portions.
  • Roll into smooth balls and place them on a greased baking sheet.

5. Second Rise

  • Cover and let them rise for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

6. Bake & Finish

  • Bake for 18-20 minutes until golden brown.
  • Brush immediately with melted butter mixed with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and Parmesan.
